New name for high fructose corn syrup

Birmingham Star Tuesday 14th September, 2010

The makers of high fructose corn syrup have proclaimed a new name for their product.

It will now be known as corn sugar.

The Corn Refiners Association made the decision to swap names after concerns were raised by consumers about health and obesity problems.

High fructose corn syrup is used in soft drinks, bread and cereals.

The industry has launched its new marketing campaign to alleviate the concerns over the corn product on www.cornsugar.com and on television.
