Missile launched without knowledge of US Military

Birmingham Star Tuesday 9th November, 2010

A vapour trail seen not far off the coast of Los Angeles could have been left by a missile.

Pentagon officials in the US have been at a loss to explain the missile but have said it was not being considered a threat.

The cloud trail off the coast of California was seen by thousands of people on Monday, rising from the water about 56 km offshore.

Pentagon officials have insisted there was no US Defence Department involvement in this launch and has been asking for anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward.
